Since I'm so new to Hindi cinema I didn't get even half the filmi references (although at least I picked up on the Moulin Rouge dancers in "Ticket to Hollywood"), so it was great to get more insight into those.ajnabihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08296593338690811213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-7126196477667201322007-09-24T00:41:00.000-04:002007-09-24T00:41:00.000-04:00The same moron commented on my JBJ review..looks l...The same moron commented on my JBJ review..looks like we were all paid by the Bachchans..:P!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-53076904480527427092007-07-10T09:19:00.000-04:002007-07-10T09:19:00.000-04:00Anonymous: ever heard of difference of opinion? How about a radical thought -- maybe I did like the movie and was (shocker) not paid by the Bachchans to write this review?Qalandarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08822440676942755461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-62060126030724856442007-07-10T07:43:00.000-04:002007-07-10T07:43:00.000-04:00Looks like you were paid by the Bachchan's for thi...Looks like you were paid by the Bachchan's for this article. I wonder what made you fall in love with Abhishek Bachchan. He is the most boring, dullest and lifeless actor in Indian screen today. He has been given several chances before his first genuine effort to smallest improvement (Guru) if any. His stubby face is vomit worthy and there is nothing in him that is better than Himesh Reshammiya.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-1445571632948072092007-07-03T21:53:00.000-04:002007-07-03T21:53:00.000-04:00Superb review Q! JeM started out superbly, then turned in to a K-jo meets Darshan Bros. flick in the second half salvaged by Salman and the music.

Shaad rocks!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-26310834803303856152007-06-21T05:18:00.000-04:002007-06-21T05:18:00.000-04:00Great Review qalander , saw that movie it was ok n...Great Review qalander , saw that movie it was ok not dat gud not dat bad !! u can say avg movie for regular cinegoers !!

wat are the BO chance ??Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-46115363166956212152007-06-20T15:20:00.000-04:002007-06-20T15:20:00.000-04:00Thanks anonymous (I think!)...on the film's flaws,...Thanks anonymous (I think!)...on the film's flaws, why would I deny them? I devoted an entire paragraph in my review to them...Overall though I must say I find this a superior film to Jaaneman, and by quite a amrgin. After the first 40 or so minutes, JM ended up as a rather stale love story reminiscent of the whole Karan Johar/NYC/SRK scene, and personally I didn't find the whole deal fresh at all...Qalandarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08822440676942755461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-81112208983340780732007-06-20T15:16:00.000-04:002007-06-20T15:16:00.000-04:00very well written review - you have a mastery with...very well written review - you have a mastery with words and perhaps echoed what Shaad *wanted* to bring out with this movie -- I say *wanted* because I think he and this film failed miserably for me -- it just didn't make good cinema unlike Jaan-e-mann which succeeded at some level for me.. anyways, I do hope you admit that film was at least *slightly flawed* in many placed.. agree?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-20817950668927864452007-06-19T12:52:00.000-04:002007-06-19T12:52:00.000-04:00Great review. I do agree that this film is a sort of cousin to Jaan-e-mann but again, as you point out, Shaad Ali, unlike Kunder, retains its zany essence till the very end.

"A merely descriptive review cannot do justice to this film, to the effect of watching this riot of color and quirkiness trot along, because what makes it worth watching -- its soul, if Jhoom Barabar Jhoom can be said to have something that sounds so serious -- is not its story or any twists therein (though there is one), but its stance."

This is exactly what I feel. It's sad critics are getting confused and terming it superficial. True, it carries no deep meaning but as you say, it's soul is its stance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
