I was trying to sort out that very question recently (well, only concerning Aamir Khan); perhaps you can tell me what you think:
http://www.letstalkaboutbollywood.com/article-dhobi-ghat-looking-for-a-new-centre-88435354.html
thanks anyway, yvesyveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12975451635895715233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-18165964447298623172011-04-06T01:10:37.160-04:002011-04-06T01:10:37.160-04:00I have always believed that a very brilliant Jhoom...I have always believed that a very brilliant Jhoom Barabar failed as audiences (esp in NRI-istan) are more comfortable with the Yash Raichands of reel life and not the Rikki Thukrals...
something which forms the subtext of conversation regarding racism in real life (it happens to ghareeb students from the armpit of India not People Like Us God forbid)
and well I just went through your review of JBJ and am glad you liked it too!!Aneela Zhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15266036533025907163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-5901913006889948262010-12-15T07:02:52.824-05:002010-12-15T07:02:52.824-05:00Dabangg has its own flavor.Just like same as wante...Dabangg has its own flavor.Just like same as wanted.Action basec movie really very common audience. Salman is acting in any role so natural where Amir and Srk's acting is totally different. I wonder why so many people think that Salman's acting is not as good as Amir and SRK's? Then i think maybe this is all because of his controversies people don't pay attention in his acting career. Anyways wish all the Khans best of luck !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-60175435248872965952010-09-12T15:13:30.158-04:002010-09-12T15:13:30.158-04:00it struck me as I watched AAA again after a gap of... it struck me as I watched AAA again after a gap of many years that Salman was the one who did the whole thing as a natural while Aamir was trying a little too hard to be zany and funny.
Amrita, i have maintained this from as long as I can remember, though people are not easily convinced. Also see Karan Arjun, in which Salman took on the other Khan and see who is more convincing.
I think it is because Aamir and SRK both had their breakthrough hits as "actors"(Aamir in Rangeela and SRK in Baazigar) that everyone believes them to be superior. Admittedly , I am a Salman fan so you can take this with apinch of salt, but I am struggling to find even a single instance when Salman has struck a false note in a movie. I used to be an SRK fan from his Fauji days but his pre Bazigar work is an embarrassment to put it mildly. Also consider, Aamir comes from a family of filmakers who have launched him and then made another of his biggest hits. SRK had his theater and television pedigree before he came into films.
Besides SRK and Aamir both have worked with the cream of directors and production houses.Salman has little else between Rajshri and David Dhawan. So, I guess, my point is he is a very underrated actor.
Wonder which movie you have in mind with "The moment he tries to stretch the strain is visible".Rahulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08600228969911790479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-22381563191925333412010-09-12T04:55:25.066-04:002010-09-12T04:55:25.066-04:00Q, oh buddy, no hope for you is there?! lol!Q, oh buddy, no hope for you is there?! lol!Conrad Barwanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15324170.post-25601570794568944692010-09-12T02:42:29.496-04:002010-09-12T02:42:29.496-04:00I think the difference between Aamir and Salman is...I think the difference between Aamir and Salman is that Aamir simply can't bring himself to embrace the silliness. This is not a recent phenom either - it struck me as I watched AAA again after a gap of many years that Salman was the one who did the whole thing as a natural while Aamir was trying a little too hard to be zany and funny.

Aamir's forte is the righteous do-gooder in movies like Sarfarosh or even Lagaan. He's a Hero who needs to be heroic in the simplest sense of that word to display to his best advantage. He can do other stuff pretty well, but he doesn't inhabit those characters as well.

Salman otoh is very much a Man. He can play dimwitted or smart or heroic with equal elan as long as these ideas are fed by an uncomplicated manliness. The moment he tries to stretch the strain is visible.

Which is why Dabangg is so perfect. And it makes me happy for precisely the same reasons as you.Amritahttp://indiequill.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
